Plans for a high speed rail line connecting Hangzhou, in Zhejiang Province, to Huangshan, in Anhui Province, recently passed review with the National Development and Reform Commission. Ground breaking for the project is scheduled for within the year.

The proposed Hangzhou-Huangshan Passenger Transport Line (high speed rail), goes from Hangzhou in the east to Huangshan in the west, traversing 265,170 km and eight stations en route. The stations are Hangzhou East, Xiaoshan, Fuyang, Tonglu, Jiande East, Chun'an, Jixi North and Huangshan North. The target speed for the trains is 350 km/h. After the high speed rail is completed, it will serve as a major transit line connecting many areas known for their famous sightseeing attractions, including Hangzhou, Fuchun River, Thousand Islands Lake and Huangshan. The high speed transit line will also serve as great convenience; passengers will be able to travel between Hangzhou and Huangshan in about two hours, half the time normally needed when traveling by car.
