Chinese Student in South Korea Deported for Online Comments Supporting North Korea
Oct 08, 2014 By eChinacities.com

A Chinese student studying abroad in South Korea has been deported for repeatedly posting comments online supporting North Korea and disparaging the South.

According a report in the Chosun Daily on October 7, 24 year old Chinese student Song, came to South Korea to study and had been very active on his Facebook profile since his arrival. Some of his comments included ‘Park Geun-hye should step down’; ‘I want to help the people of South Korea to eliminate dictatorship’; and ‘support the great leader Kim Jong-un.’

The South Korean Ministry of Justice decided enough was enough and had Song deported in August this year. This is the first time that a foreign student has been deported from the country since the introduction of the law against ‘behaviour that benefits our enemies’.

I don't understand, why not send him to Nort Korea to the countryside. There he can live and enjoy the great and wonderful system of Kim Jong-un. Maybe he will miss Facebook some, or weibo or internet at all, but also going fishing for daily food can be big entertainment, or? In 20 Years or so after he lost 90% of his teeth we ask him again.

deported for voicing opinions in a democracy? seems like people memorized the slogans, but ignored the spirit of the message. confucian confusion. Doesn't South Korea have freedom of speech? On what grounds was he deported? Fomenting rebellion? Actually, this story makes no sense. I'm guessing it's bogus.

"deported for voicing opinions in a democracy?" No , he wasn't voicing 'his' opinion. He was working a propaganda campaign against the government. Freedom of speech means you will not be punished (prison/fines), having your visa revoked is just asking someone to leave your home. If he was offering rational critiques of the South Korean government then I'm willing to bet he would not have been deported. If he genuinely liked life in North Korea better and he talked about how he preferred life without electricity then I hope he would not have been deported. Remember there is a thing known as information warfare and propaganda is a form of it. In all likelihood this nut was working for the North Korean government.

you offer a longwinded rationalisation. i particularly liked the bit where it's "just asking someone to leave your home." China could learn from you, how to downplay the curtailment of people's rights, citizen or not. the tricky part about freedom of speech is that you must also tolerate the idiots and their stupid opinions. they didn't, so they are in the wrong. unless it was proven that this student was deliberately inciting violenceand disorder. but from this article, it just looks like he was a loner shouting against the crowd, making no friends in the process. he deserves a lonely student life for it, but not deportation.

Funny how he used FACEBOOK to post comments about liberation and freedom... when he is from a place that has it blocked and supporting another place (North Korea) that doesn't have it (or internet or barely electricity for that matter).

Should have deported him to North Korea since he supports them so much. Only logical, in my opinion.

Should have let the turd stay so people could laugh at the Chinese education system. This says it all: " ‘Park Geun-hye should step down’; ‘I want to help the people of South Korea to eliminate dictatorship’; and ‘support the great leader Kim Jong-un.’" Can you see the irony? I'm trying to rid S.K of their dictator (elected) by supporting Fatty Kim who murdered his ex gf and uncle. He's just a typical fool exposed to free speech and didn't have the mental capacity to process a logical thought (Chinese education system)

Not everyone supports that fat kid. I am a Chinese but I esp hate him. He represents the opposite of humanity.. To be fair, only narrow-minded people here will contend that they like that fat kid.
