Chinese Government Fines Audi a Record Breaking 1.8 Billion RMB
Aug 14, 2014 By eChinacities.com

Audi has been handed a whopping 1.8 billion RMB fine for alleged violating antitrust and monopoly laws, the China Daily reported today.

The fine is the highest to be handed down yet, in what is increasingly looking like a protectionist drive against foreign firms in China. Mercedes, Qualcomm and Microsoft have all been the subject of antitrust allegations in the past couple of months and are facing huge fines.

According to China’s anti monopoly laws, any company found guilty of violating them can be fined up to ten percent of the previous year’s annual revenue.

After four of the largest names in China have already been taken down, there is speculation as to which other firms are in the line of fire.
