The effects of PM2.5 particle levels are the fourth biggest risk factor to public health in China, according to Lancet, the world’s leading general medical journal. In a recent Lancet journal, scientists at the Chinese Academy of Sciences published the article, “China tackles the health effects of air pollution”. Their findings indicate that each year outdoor pollution causes the premature death of between 350,000 – 500,000 people.

i read it was 750,000 a year.... It is interesting that live chicken selling is being stopped for winter because a couple of people got sick... Why are there no restrictions on cars in Shanghai which make up 1/5 of the pollution? Why are diesel vehicles still allowed in cities?.... 2 sick people close the chicken industry...

chicken industry probably is very decentralized with lots of small players. It's easier to mess with a million farmers than a couple captains of industry.

yea that would be true expatlife26....I was somewhat wrong about 750,000 a year. That was for how many people die from pollution. Both air and water.
