China's Ning Zetao Makes History With Swimming Gold Medal

China's Ning Zetao claimed the gold medal for men's 100 freestyle on Thursday at the world swimming championships. Ning is the first Chinese sprint gold medalist ever at the world champions.

Ning won the race in 47.84. Australia's Cameron McEvoy, the favorite to win after the heats and semi-finals, finished second.

Ning was born in March 1993 in Zhengzhou and stands at 191 cm tall. He was a member of the People's Liberation Army's Navy Swimming Team and competes in short distance swimming. His best stroke is freestyle. He won four gold medals in the 2014 Asian Games.

Ahh..Ye Shiwen, wasnt she the brilliant 16yr old that actually swam faster than one of the men's relay 100mt freestyle in the Olympics? Astounding! The world were sceptical, but suely not...the Chinese cheating? Unheard of. BTW ~ Im quite the sporting fan, but have not heard anything about this brilliant girl since that time...does anyone know? My guess, she's still in rehab!!

Wow, a navy soldier. PRC deserves the respect of the world when US civilian Phelps only got 61 Gold Medals (18 Olympic, 27 World Championships, 16 Pan Pacific Championships). LOL
