China’s Lack of New iPhones Causing Fistfights Over iPhones Abroad

China’s Lack of New iPhones Causing Fistfights Over iPhones Abroad

The potential to make a lot of money on underground iPhone dealing in China has lead to fights in New Haven, Connecticut, Bloomberg reported.

As of now, the new iPhone is not on sale on the Chinese Mainland. The list of the next wave of countries to receive the new models on September 26 also does not include the Chinese Mainland, meaning that anyone who can get them from abroad is able to get a huge mark-up: Chinese Apple fans are desperate.

Police in New Haven said that a fistfight broke out between two groups in line for at the Apple store there, leading to three arrests. Someone even made a short documentary about the desperate state that some of these dealers are in to please Chinese demand.

The fact that there has been no set release date for the iPhones in China has spurred demand for the phone even more – and the above mentioned documentary shows that the majority of people queuing in New York City were Chinese, and likely reselling in China.

I see the story about the condom factory is listed as a related article. Is this because people buying iPhones are also being shafted?
