Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention recently released data that suggests that in 2014 there have been 19 deaths and 96 infections caused by the H7N9 bird flu in China. This has led to the government issuing an official warning, and even ceasing the sale of live birds in some areas such as Hangzhou, Ningbo and Jinhua, all in Zhejiang Province.
Shanghai will officially stop trading live fowl between January 31 and April 30 to try and curb the spread of the disease. This drastic step comes after the city had eight people infected by the strain of bird flu, of which four died.
