China's First Urban Low-Speed Maglev Train to Begin Construction in Beijing

China's first urban light rail low-speed maglev line, Beijing City Rail S1, started construction on December 28th and will begin trail operations in 2012. Formal operations are expected to begin by 2016. Beijing’s S1 Line’s starting point will be at Pingguo Yuan, while ending at Shichang station. The railway will be a total length of 10 km.
