China’s First Ever “Human Milk Bank” Set Up in Guangzhou
Apr 19, 2013 By eChinacities.com

Recently, China’s first ever “human milk bank” was set up in Guangzhou, at the Women and Children’s Medical Center. As of April 14, 60 volunteer mothers have already signed up to donate their breast milk.

After going through a series of health checks, their milk is extracted through breast pumps with nurses labeling each bottle with the name of the donator, the sterilization time, and storage information and so on.

The bottles are then disinfected and stored in refrigerators, and can be fed to babies after being thawed and heated to a temperature of 37 degrees Celsius.
