Plans to launch a space station were announced at the National People’s Congress on Wednesday.

The station will be launched in 2018 and will hopefully be completed in 2022, according to chief designer Zhang Bonan.

China’s Tiangong space modules, one of which was launched in 2011, serve to test the technology for life support systems.  The second will be schedules in 2016.
