Over the past four months, China's crude oil imports have surpassed that of the United States. This marks a global shift in the world's energy economy for the first time in a decade.
Data from Chinese customs shows that China imported an average of 7.4 million barrels of oil per day in April. The world's largest importer of crude oil, United States imports 7.2 million barrels daily.
Managing Partner of Blacklight Research Colin Fenton told the Financial Times that China is increasing its oil reserves.
