The Chinese government has dropped several international brands from its approved list for purchases by the state in favor of domestic brands.

Apple, Cisco and McAphee were all booted off the list, while the number of domestic branded made a dramatic jump.

The government has already banned the use of Microsoft Windows for government agencies as China’s treatments of foreign technology companies grows increasingly heavy handed.

Some have blamed worries over cyber security for this latest move, whilst others blame protectionism by the Chinese government.
