Chengdu recently began issuing new finance / IC combo card, named the “Rongchengka” (蓉城卡) that will gradually replace previously used bank cards. Currently, the new Rongchengka can only be used for depositing money to be used on the subway, but in the future it will also be used for purchasing food and drinks, entertainment and other shopping. In the event that the card is lost or stolen, the card owner should immediately call the bank’s customer service line to report the loss and freeze the account, as the money on the card is basically equivalent to cash.
