A Changzhou man illegally dressed up as a SWAT team member to scare his father into stop visiting prostitutes.

The Wujin local police received a number of calls on the evening of January 1, asking if the department now had special police patrolling the streets. Reports said that the special policeman had threatened a dog with a stun gun. Local police were immediately dispatched to the scene and found the “special policeman” in an alley. His fake outfit and gear were very realistic. “Are you police?” An officer asked. The man answered that he was not. He was brought into the police station for questioning.

The man, Guo 21, said that he had wanted to become a policeman since he was a child but had not been successful. In 2013, he moved to Changzhou to work as a security guard at a primary school. He said that he had posed as a SWAT team member because he suspected that his father was visiting a prostitute.

Earlier that day, Guo’s father had called him to ask for money. Guo thought that his father was asking for money to see a prostitute, and refused his request. Guo was angry when he hang up, and put on his SWAT team costume he had previously bought online in order to “frighten prostitutes, and catch him in the act.”

Guo pulled up in a taxi, and was pounced on by a dog. He scared the dog away, and then searched the area for prostitutes or his father for ten minutes and found nothing. Soon the police pulled up. Guo is now under administrative detention for impersonating a policeman.
