The 2014 canton temple fair in Guangzhou will be held in Yuexiu District during the Lantern Festival on February 14 - 20. The fair will bring the public a Cantonese-style cultural carnival by combining a traditional religious celebration with modern lifestyle.
Originating in ancient times, the temple fair is a carnival held around the temple used as the community hall in the past. During the fair, the public prays for happiness and peace in the New Year. The fair will also feature parades, performances and other activities. Visitors can play games and go shopping as well.
Following the tradition, the fair this time will be held mainly in Chenghuang Temple at the end of Beijing Road. Several activities will be held at Fuxue Xijie near The First Workers' Cultural Palace, Beijing Road and Yuexiu Park.
