Canadian Dies of H5N1 Bird Flu After Traveling in Beijing

The first North American death from H5N1 Bird Flu has been confirmed in Alberta, Canada. The person first showed symptoms on a December 27 flight from Beijing to Vancouver, but continued onto to Edmonton. The individual was admitted to hospital on January 1 and died two days later. 

It is still not known how they contracted the disease as the person did not leave Beijing and did not travel to any farms or visit any markets.
