Brief Intro to Nanchang Shopping

Shopping in Nanchang is a unique experience, even for those who have spent time in other Chinese markets. The largest wholesale bazaar in Jaingxi is located in Nanchang, and many of the smaller, individual urban boutiques are housed in traditional buildings, letting you feast your eyes while you empty your wallet. Foremost among the interesting shopping destinations are Wanshou Palace Street, the night market, and the second-hand market.

Zhongshan Road is Nanchang's most prominent commercial area. Shopping centers, department stores, supermarkets and restaurants, both large and small, run along either side of the road offering cheap merchandise. Though drivers and pedestrians would likely benefit from a couple more lanes, the ancient narrowness of Zhongshan Road lends the district an archaic feel. Take a stroll down Ladies' Street for a peek at the piles of fashion accessories, makeup and women's clothing.

Nanchang is known for several local products that can be purchased at many of the shops, markets and supermarkets that dot Nanchang. Nanchang is known its calligraphy brushes, tea, tangerines and Jingdezhen porcelain.
