Blocked Foreign Websites Accessible in New Shanghai Trade Zone

According to the Hong Kong newspaper South China Morning Post, the Chinese government has recently made a major decision by permitting local access to blocked foreign websites like Facebook, Twitter and online newspapers like the New York Times, in the newShanghai Free Trade Experimental Zone.

On August 22, the State Council formally approved a 28.78 square kilometer area of the new district of Pudong situated in the Shanghai Free Trade Experimental Zone. This area will contain the four specially supervised custom areas: the Shanghai Waigaoqiao Duty-Free District, the Shanghai Waigaoqiao Duty-Free Distribution Area, the Yangshan Duty-Free Port and the Shanghai Pudong Airport Integrated Duty-Free Area.
