Zhou Yunpeng (周云蓬), the blind poet and folk singer, will perform in Harbin on July 7. He is renowned as one of the greatest performers of Chinese folk music. Zhou was struck by blindness at the age of nine, started playing the guitar at 15 and began writing poetry at 21. In 2011, after republishing a collection of poems based on his hardships growing up, Zhou was awarded the 2011 People’s Literature Award for poetry.
