Qingpu District in Shanghai will be the venue for the biggest matchmaking event in the city’s history. Around 24,000 singles will attend the event according to one of the organizers of the fifth annual Shanghai Matchmaking Expo.
Of the attendees, under half will be men, although the organizers are happy with this number as previous events of this nature have seen far fewer men than women. It is also interesting to note that two thirds of the participants are under the age of 30.
Among the attendees will be parents of singles, who are coming to shop their sons and daughters as they fear for their futures. There will also be a special section for returning overseas students and their parents. Over 500 single hopefuls have signed up to hunt for the perfect partner back on their home turf.
