The construction of the Beijing – Shanghai high-speed railway line and Beijing – Shijiazhuang passenger special railway line has recently begun. The special railway line project for passengers running from Beijing to Shenyang, Zhangjiakou and Tangshan will also begin soon. Beijing is making efforts to solve the needs of transportation between the suburbs and the city proper by improving the connectivity between intercity railways and the counties in the suburbs.
