On October 8, Beijing air pollution levels in central and northern Beijing reached level 5 critical levels, with the southern districts of Fangshan and Daxing reaching level 6. It is estimated that the heavy pollution levels will continue over the following three days.
The Beijing meteorological authorities have issued a yellow warning and urge citizens to take precautionary measures against the pollution.
