Sep 22, 2009 By eChinacities.com

The total number of visitors to Beijing reached a new high of 384,000 in August, the Beijing Municipal Statistics Bureau and the Beijing Investigation Division under the National Bureau of Statistics of China announced Monday, including 322,000 foreign visitors and 63,000 visitors from Macao, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

It is the largest monthly number this year despite a 1.3% decline compared with that of last August

The increase was spurred by stimulus package plans made by scenic spots in Beijing which have received 2.594 million inbound visitors from January to August.
