Beijing Transport -Subway

The Beijing subway system has a fixed ticket rate of 2 Yuan per ride (excluding the Airport Express line, which costs 25 Yuan). Passengers can buy single-use one-way tickets or stored value cards which will even work on the Airport Express line. When using single-use one-way tickets remember that they will only work on the date they were purchased so do not buy them the day before or try to use old ones the next day.

During rush hour, the subway and its stations (particularly transfer stations) are extremely crowded, especially on lines 1, 5, and 13. Even during normal times, the subway is often packed with people so if you hate feeling crowded then pick another mode of transportation.

The Beijing subway system is made of 15 different lines. The urban lines are 1, 2, 4, 8, 9, 10, 13, 15 lines and the Airport Express line.
