Beijing Records Best Air Quality in 11 Years

According to Beijing Municipal Environmental Monitoring Center, Beijing saw 285 days with blue sky in 2009, which means days of second grade and better than second grade air quality was 25 days more than the year’s air quality quota and a record high in the past 11 years. There were only five polluted days above the fourth grade.

Five-grade classification of air quality in China:
First: API≤59 excellent
Second: API≤100 fairly good
Third: API≤200 slightly polluted
Fourth: API≤300 poor
Fifth: API>300 hazardous
