It’s estimated that roughly 44 percent of the urban population of Beijing will travel by subway and bus during 2013. A report from the Beijing Daily said the number is expected to reach 50 percent by 2015. In order to ease traffic congestion, Beijing plans to develop a bus and subway transport network extending more than 600 km. Tong Lihong, who is a manager at the Beijing MTR Construction Administration, stated on February 20 that by the end of 2013, the extensions of lines 8 and 14 will be completed, and that the final phase of line 10 will be complete in May.
