On January 22, thousands of Foxconn employees from a factory in Beijing’s Daxing District went on strike over unpaid end-of-year bonuses and lack of pay rises. Workers were reported to have encircled a factory cafeteria where a senior executive was eating, in an attempt to get an answer. In response to the matter, Foxconn’s Headquarters released the following statement: “This issue is not a strike, it’s an internal dispute that the company’s management is working to resolve.”
