Beijing Beats NYC to Become “Billionaire Capital of the World”

Beijing is the new “Billionaire Capital of the World,” according to Shanghai’s Hurun magazine. There are 100 billionaires currently living in Beijing, and 95 in New York City. The number of billionaires living in Beijing increased last year by 34, and by 4 in New York City.

Moscow has the third most billionaires in the world. The Russian capital is home to 66 of them. 64 billionaires reside in Hong Kong, and 50 call Shanghai home.

There are now more billionaires in Mainland China than in the United States. In the fall of 2015, there were 596 billionaires in Mainland China (up from 242), and 537 in the United States.

Billionaires according to what currency, and if we compare per head of population it may well show a different picture. China has the largest population for a single country in the world, is it any wonder that they have a lot of this or that. If anything is surprising it is that they do not have more, when all the other factors are adjusted for China is not anywhere near where you would first think.
