Pictures of tourists at Xiamen's Haicang Wild Animal Park riding giant tortoises have recently gone viral in China. The Netizen that posted the photos wrote, “Animal cruelty at Haicang Zoo. Hundred year old tortoises are brutally forced to carry tourists. The tortoises do not want to move, there are tears in their eyes, but they will be stabbed with a screwdriver or hit!”

In the photos, the tortoises seem to be moist around the eyes. In one photo, a woman riding a tortoise is holding what looks like a screwdriver. Another child riding a tortoise also seems to have a sharp object in his hand.

A breeder at the zoo has already been fired because of the photos and further investigations are being carried out.
