“Assembly Line” Entry of Foreigners in Shenzhen For Illegal Work
Nov 15, 2013 By eChinacities.com

According to information released by the Public Security Border Patrol for Guangdong, they have arrested 734 people for illegal immigration so far this year in 2013. In 2012, they had apprehended a total of 943 people while the corresponding amount in 2011was 865 people. The main source for illegal immigrants into China are from South East Asia. The majority of these people have come here to work illegally. The process by which these illegal immigrants are enabled to perform illegal work has become an ‘assembly line’ in Shenzhen.

Generally speaking, this operation involves people from Shenzhen and Yunan in which the cooperation of Chinese nationals is required. These insiders enable citizens from Vietnam and Myanmar to come to China on a tourist visa, provide them with contact information for a Shenzhen factory which then employs this person as an illegal worker. They then extract a fee as a middle-man as well as a percentage of the earnings of the illegal factory worker.
