April Fools Day Killer Sentenced to Death For Poisoning Roommate
Feb 19, 2014 By eChinacities.com

On February 18 Lin Senhao, who had been a student at Fudan University, was sentenced to the death for fatally poisoning his roommate, Huang Yang, with drinking water.

In 2011 Lin Senhao and Huang Yang, the victim, lived in the same dorm but didn’t get on. At the time of the murder, Lin claimed that it had been an April Fool’s day prank that ended in tragedy and that he didn’t mean to kill Huang Yang but rather cause him some discomfort. However, prosecutors claimed that he knew what the toxic chemical N-Nitrosodimethylamine would do as he had used it in the lab on animals and that the murder was calculated.

‘The defendant Lin Senhao committed intentional homicide by poisoning due to trivialities. The method was ruthless, the harm to society was great, the crime extremely serious,’ the court said in a statement.
