Apple's China App Store Open to UnionPay Payments
Nov 19, 2014 By eChinacities.com

The Chinese edition of the Apple app store will now accept payments with Chinese UnionPay credit and debit cards. Great news for those of us who have been here that long that UnionPay is our only option.

Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, said “the ability to buy apps and make purchases using UnionPay cards has been one of the most requested features from our customers in China”, according to Shenzhen Daily.

Before, Chinese people would have to use a top-up system that replied on a 50 RMB minimum, but now, the exact amount can be paid with UnionPay, no matter how small.
