Apple Squeezed Out of the Top 5 Smart Phone Market in China
Aug 09, 2013 By eChinacities.com

According to data published by Canalys, Apple iPhone has been squeezed out of the top 5 in the smart phone market in China. Sales of smart phones increased by 108% in the second quarter of 2013 amounting to a total of 88.1 million cell phone sales. These figures represent 20% of global market which means China is still the number one smart phone market in the world.

However, the news wasn’t good for Apple, who’ve been pushed back to number seven by Asian competitors Samsung, Lenovo, Yulong, ZTE, Huawei and Xiaomi. According to Canalys, the main reason for the continued market growth is the availability of 1000 RMB smart phones – a price significantly lower than Apple’s comparatively expensive iPhones.
