American Opens Successful Crepe Stand, Goes Viral in China

American Opens Successful Crepe Stand, Goes Viral in China
May 05, 2015 By eChinacities.com

All you have to do to be a viral hit in China these days is to open up a local crepe stand! The story of American Eliza Grandi and her fruity crepe stand in America has recently blown up on the Chinese internet. Her simple street shop sells the crepes for 6 Dollars a pop and business is booming. As the Chinese media put it, she is “on the road to becoming rich!”

https://thenanfang.com/us-food-stall-operator-criticized-stealing-chinese-culture/ I think they left out a few of the details of why it went viral... Like the part where they say DAMN FOREIGNERS STOLE CHINESE CULTURE!!! But it's ok; I would be ashamed of the xenophobic stupidity from my countrymen too, if I were Chinese.

Got me wondering (how did she manage to get through guanxi and bribes?) until I checked the original article. Hahaha, wrong translation. (”美国人艾丽莎·格兰迪在天津玩耍时吃了煎饼,于是偷师学艺,把煎饼果子带回美国,摆了个路边摊,一个煎饼果子卖6美元.." should be something like this --- "Her inspiration came from the pancakes she had while touring Tianjin. Upon returning to US she setup her stand selling fruit pancakes at USD 6 a piece.") * "As the Chinese media put it, she is 'on the road to becoming rich!'” Perfect illustration of the gap between undeveloped countries mentality and developed ones.

Lol thought something was missing here. Echinacities must be cutting costs and can't even afford to hire decent translators.

Lol... That is a huge translation error. Get it together eChinacities, you are embarrassing yourself.

Talking about translation, Robk and Chairman Cow, do any of you speak French? I would like to know what the two gentlemen who received the Lamborghini were saying. This is more related to having power/money and using it properly so I would post it in the "diva teacher" article too. Arab (Millionaire) from Qatar gives his Lamborghini to young people (born 93) in Paris https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Gz7oMfS_EMA or https://youtu.be/Gz7oMfS_EMA

Hi guest. Sorry my friend I cannot speak French. But I'm sure if you ask the question in the answers section of this website somebody should be able to help you.

If everything were Chinese (or from Chinese culture) there would not even be the word "crepe" in the first place - And selling stands, be it crepe, hotdogs, or lemonade is not a Chinese novelty either! And $6 each? Wow. That comes to about 37 yuan (RMB) a piece, and if she can sell how many.... Maybe she is on the road to becoming rich. No, wait - in America, 6 bucks is just 6 bucks!!!

@guest67884 Sorry I missed your comment. Yup, 6 bucks is just 6 bucks in the States. Plenty of Mainlanders from PRC has this habit of 'conquering the world with their @$@#', part of the 'face thing', to show off, the worse part is they use lies to 'gain face'. More and more of these lies are blown, fewer and fewer in the world trust them, more and more view them with disgust. Can't blame others, they don't deserve to be honored.
