Almost 400,000 Chinese Studied Abroad in 2012

In a recent press conference, the China Ministry of Education stated that in 2012, there were a total of 399,600 Chinese students studying abroad, with 272,900 students returning to China in the same year. Students receiving scholarships from the Chinese government to study abroad were also at a record high. Meanwhile, overseas students studying in China also increased by 35,719 people in 2012, a 12.21% increase from the previous year. The top three countries whose students choose to study in China were Japan, Thailand, and Indonesia.
