As if we weren’t terrified enough of the airpocalypse, Al Gore, former US vice president, has spoken at the Chinese Public Welfare Forum. He said that data from a US science magazine shows that life expectancy in China has been reduced by an average of 5.5 years, especially in the North of the country.

People living in high levels of pollution are more likely to suffer from serious illnesses and may even die as a result of this pollution. Ecns quoted Gore as stating that “China could solve this problem; we hope to negate air pollution, not only in China, but all over the world”.

Al Gore is a sanctimonious, self-righteous self promoter who flies around in a private plane and lives in a 10 bedroom mansion while preaching about conservation but I think he's onto something here... not the first one to come out with that kind of info.

Mercury emissions from coal plants causes insanity and other brain/heart/lung problems. With the kind of pollution level China has how many living in the heavily polluted areas are really sane?
