Since the scale 5.2 earthquake on 20th February that hit the Xinjiang county of Ahaqi, residence have been experiencing noticeable aftershocks that over the last several days have occurred more than 200 times.
The strongest of these shocks, which measured 4.9 on the Richter Scale have, together with the main earthquake itself caused 14,800 casualties and more than RMB 60 million in economic losses, with local agriculture, schools, hospitals and old people's homes being hit badly.
