After 2 Year Online Relationship, Man Discovers “Girlfriend” is a Man

After 2 Year Online Relationship, Man Discovers “Girlfriend” is a Man
Jul 09, 2013 By eChinacities.com

Xiao Wang, who works in Changshu, Jiangsu, had been “dating” his online girlfriend for around two years. Things were going well until his cousin did some “investigative work” which revealed that his apparent “girlfriend” was in fact a man.

Back in March 2011, Wang, who is originally from Yunnan, met someone online who went by the name “Shi Bingbing”. Shi introduced herself as a girl who was also from Yunnan, and stated that she (we’ll go with “she” for this part of the article) was looking for “Mr Right” online. Wang decided to pursue Shi online, and the two eventually declared that they were together, despite not having yet formally met each other.

Soon after they met online however, Shi told Wang that she was working in Fujian, though really hoped to come to Changshu for work to be with him. She expressed that she didn’t have the cash to make the trip, which in turn led the keen Wang to transfer a bit of money over to Shi in the hope of actually meeting her.

In April that year, Shi Bingbing arrived in Changshu for work. However, each time Wang proposed they meet Shi would blow him off with random excuses about working overtime or whatever. After she arrived in Changshu, Shi repeatedly demanded that Wang give her gifts; though with a strange twist. Each time, Shi would request that Wang placed a gift in a tree in front of where she was supposedly working, which she would presumably pick up after Wang was out of sight. Romantic indeed.

This year, Xiao Wang and even his family tried many times to meet Shi Bingbing, though she still used the same old excuses. Despite it being over two years, no one seemed to think it out of the ordinary that Wang’s “girlfriend” had refused to meet him at every instance, though that was until Wang’s cousin stepped into the frame following his suspicions.

The cousin logged on to the internet and used a fake username to chat with the enigmatic Shi. He then announced to Shi that he was planning to open a factory in Changshu, which surprisingly aroused Shi’s attention to the extent that she proposed the two met for dinner. When they met Wang’s cousin saw that despite wearing feminine traditional Yunnan minority clothes this “Shi Bingbing” had various masculine features (the beard and the Adam’s apple being the giveaway). Wang’s cousin still couldn’t put his finger on it though, and it took him a little while to work things out due to the fact Shi was wearing earrings and a bra.

At the end of June, Xiao Wang’s cousin broke the news to him regarding the truth about Shi. The cousin then arranged another meeting with Shi where Wang would attend, and the two then pounced and had the fallacious Shi taken down to the police station. It was then found that Shi was a 20-year-old male.

Over the two years, Shi had cheated over 10,000 RMB worth of gifts out of Wang.
