Advance Train Ticket Booking to be Extended to 60 Days

Advance Train Ticket Booking to be Extended to 60 Days
Nov 17, 2014 By eChinacities.com

Starting from December 6 there is great news for travelers: you’ll be able to buy your train tickets up to 60 days in advance instead of the usual 20, Shenzhen Daily reports.

You’ll be able to get your tickets 60 days prior to departure dat online and via your phone, while the ticket offices and railway stations will start selling the tickets 58 days in advance.

The policy will be implemented gradually to avoid overload on the system (and to add more confusion). On December 1, the booking time limit will be extended from 20 to 30 days, with each day between December 2 and December 6 adding six days to the limit.

Attention to everyone planning to travel during Chinese New Year: these rules mean that you can book your ticket for February 4 (the start of the 2015 Spring Festival Rush) on December 7.

Train tickets are available online on www.12306.cn, but only in Chinese and for Chinese bank cards that support online payment. To buy in person, foreign passengers will need passports, residence certificates, or entry-exit certificates for each ticket. To book by phone, call 9510 5160 or 9602 0086.

hi2u

This is useless as long as people don't know their vacation schedules until the week before.
