ANZ Bank has been given the green light by Chinese regulators to open a branch in the southern city of Guangzhou, adding to the bank's existing branches in Beijing and Shanghai. China is a key country in ANZ's super-regional banking strategy, which is expected to grow the region's contribution to 20 per cent of group profit by 2012.
