On October 30, the Guangzhou Baiyun District Prosecutor's Office approved the arrest of seven suspects responsible for an explosion at a warehouse in Baiyun District on September 10 that killed eight and injured 36 others. Two of the suspects are foreign nationals.

According to reports, one man known only as “Adam” deliberately hid flammable goods inside a container holding shoes and other materials in attempt to evade customs and smuggle them out of China for export. The owner of the warehouse, Cai Fuguo, allegedly didn’t pay much attention to what was being stored in his premises. Reports also claim that a man named “Oder” (also a foreign national) helped Adam destroy some of the evidence after the fire broke out.

Adam and a man named Fan Zumin were arrested for illegally storing explosives, while Cai Fuguo and three others were arrested for negligence; Oder was arrested for helping to destroy evidence.
