According toreports, the latest James Bond film screened in the Mainland – Skyfall – has been heavily edited by the Chinese censors, with no less than 30-40 minutes cut from the film. A scene in which a Chinese security guard in Shanghai is killed was deleted. In another scene which takes place in Macau, James bond originally asks a mysterious woman if one starts “meeting customers” at the age of 12-13, but in the Chinese version the subtitles were changed to “Does one join the mafia at the age of 12-13”? Other scenes that were deleted included nudity and political scenes. According to the producers, the introduction of Chinese elements into the film was intended to please Chinese audiences. Instead, many scenes were simply cut out.

This is a difficult argument, not easily commented on. The film itself is well made and non-offensive... from a political standpoint things maybe should have been discussed with the censorship authorities in China, then the real intention of pleasing the Chinese audience and moreover the authorities would have been produced in a state of equilibrium. Not resulting in the deletion of a well made movie. It's difficult to please everyone, especially in the entertainment industry. :)

Well the Chinese people need to be protected from western propaganda and under no circumstances should they be allowed to be entertained. The nerve of movie makers!
