3 Types of GM Soybean Approved for China
Jun 14, 2013 By eChinacities.com

The Ministry of Agriculture have recently approved the importing of three genetically modified soybean types from companies in Brazil and Argentina.

The Monsanto Company recently applied for the ability to export the insect resistant MON87701 bean, the insect and herbicide resistant MON87701 and MON89788 beans; all of which have received safety certificates from the Ministry of Agriculture.

China is currently the world’s largest soybean importer, with 60% of its imported beans coming from either Brazil or Argentina. The move is likely to affect domestic sellers of soybeans in China.
