Fourteen African men were arrested in Malaysia on April 25, after the local police were informed by the Chinese authorities that they’d been profiling and scamming single older Asian women (including several from Mainland China) on a dating website from their local apartment, according to Malaysia’s Guangming Daily.

According to the report, the 14 men were all on student visas, and resided in a four-bedroom apartment located in the town of Puchong, located midway between Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. The group registered the username “Good Man” on a popular Asian dating site, and then developed close relationships with a number of women, sweet-talking several of them into making investments that turned out to be fraudulent.

From Mainland China, three well-off single older women fell for the scam, losing a total of 3.07 million USD.
