The 2010 Dianchi Pan-Asian Cooperation Culture and Arts Festival, organized by the Yunnan provincial government and Kunming municipal government, will be held in Kunming from July 25th to 31st. There will be four parts to the festival: Pan-Asian Achievements, Pan-Asian Voices and Insights, Pan-Asian Classics, and Pan-Asian Diversity. The Pan-Asian Achievements will include a gala celebration to kick off the festival on the night of July 25th, and will hold a closing music concert in celebration of famous Chinese composer Nie Er on the evening of July 31st. The Pan-Asian Voices and Insights will include forums, lectures, and panel discussions with media experts and industry professionals from more than 30 countries including China, UK, Japan, the Philippines, Canada, South Africa, and Italy. The theme of the forums will be focused on cultural and media exchange in the Pan-Asian region, the construction of thoroughfares amongst Pan-Asian countries for better convenience and connection, and the establishment of trade cooperation and capitalization on culture and products in the region. The Pan-Asian Classics will include a series of musical concerts held in honor of composer Nie Er – including solo and quartet choir recitals. The Pan-Asian Diversity part of the festival will include song and dance performances from various Pan-Asian countries, and showcase the diverse cultural heritage of the area via performances from ethnic minority groups based in the region.
