According to an announcement by the Boluo County government of Huizhou City in Guangdong, 17 people were struck by lightning on April 30 at 14:17 on Luofu Mountain. 16 of the victims were lightly injured and one person sustained more serious injuries. None of the victims are in critical condition however.

The party were said to be descending from the mountain, about 800 meters above sea level, when the lightning storm struck. The ground was wet at the time, which is believed to have exasperated the lightning’s damage.

According to the Nanfang, the victims were workers at the Foxconn factory in Longxi Village.
