On August 25th, Scottish photographer, John Thomson’s historic travel photographs of the late Qing Dynasty will arrive at the Guangzhou Museum. After the Opium War, Westerners had a negative image of China in their minds. However, Thomson’s works incisively captures the beauty and vitality of the late Qing Dynasty, not known to most. The exhibition, called “China: Through the Lens of John Thomson”, will display all 148 photos of Thomson’s work from 1868 to 1871,while he travelled around China. The exhibition will be held for one month.
