Just three days after a man called in bomb threats to 5 domestic flights arriving into Shenzhen, authorities are now reporting that someone else called in bomb threats to nearly a dozen flights arriving into Shanghai on May 17.

Around 17:00 on Friday, May 17, Shanghai airports received 11 phony bomb threat phone calls for separate flights arriving from Beijing, Guangzhou, Chongqing and Shenzhen. Different from the previous 5 threats that were all for Shenzhen Airlines flights, these most recent threats were made toward aircrafts from five separate airlines.

On May 18, the Yangcheng (Jiangsu province) public security bureau announced that it had arrested the man responsible, a Yangcheng local surnamed Ji, just two hours after the calls were made.

For those keeping score, that makes 16 bomb threats made on domestic flights during the last month alone, which, according to the authorities have cost airlines at least 1 million RMB. According to an online poll, 60 percent of netizens favor requiring the perpetrator to pay for these expenses, while lawyers have suggested increasing the punishment for the crime.
