10 Turkish People Detained for Smuggling Terrorist Suspects Out of the Country

Shanghai police have detained 10 Turkish nationals on suspicion of helping terrorist suspects leave China.

According to ecns, the 10, alongside another 11 people were taken into custody in November 2014.

The 10 suspects have been accused of providing fake Turkish passports for people suspected of terrorist activity. The alleged terrorists were caught attempting to leave from Shanghai Pudong Airport to Syria, Afghanistan and Pakistan and had each paid 60,000 RMB for their fake documentation.

Audio and visual materials ‘related to terrorism’ were also found on the suspects who were flying out.

The 10 Turkish people will be officially charged for ‘making arrangements for others to illegally cross national borders’.

The charges carry a sentence of between two and seven years if found guilty.

It sounds like Xinjiang people are going to Syria/Iraq and fighting with ISIS. Very dangerous should they return to China and train more terrorists I am unsure how well the ill disciplined and poorly led soldiers will fare against such a foe.
