In a March 2009 conversation over lunch between Kevin Rudd, who was then prime minister of Australia, and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Washington, the Australian leader  described himself a "brutal realist on China" and told the United States it should be prepared to use force against China "if everything goes wrong", a US diplomatic cable released by WikiLeaks reveals.  Read more>>

In Rudd's mind, US , as a country, is really that stupid?

Wayne Wed Dec 08, 2010 11:32 pm PST

Stupid Aussie politian! Stupid Rudd! This is why you were moved!

Don Mon Dec 06, 2010 10:28 am PST

Hilary Clinton is a idiot. China has always been our freind and trading partner. China is our ally. China is a freindly nation and not a warmongering nation.

Hank Chill Mon Dec 06, 2010 08:24 am PST

Walmart could ban China product andChina would dry upfast..lol--wal-mart probly dictates to china..haha my funny opinion..

Buck Mon Dec 06, 2010 08:06 am PST

Use force against China? Until they no longer hold any of our debt we will do exactly as they say.

Party agnostic Mon Dec 06, 2010 07:56 am PST

Prepare for war ha! Is that going to be a "Limited war too?"
So, let's see, we invade China, dissolve its 3 Million army then enslave its 1.5 Billion population and this way, WalMart stores will be full of Chinese goods again.
Wonderful plan and only requires our unborn grandchildren to be enlisted in the army today.
Those double faced Aussie politicians.
They are telling the US to prepare for war while Australia is tripling its trade with China every year.

Harry Mon Dec 06, 2010 06:53 am PST

Kevin Rudd is right on the money about China. A weak & indolent America will never figure out that China & Russia are our main enemies. They have been since World War II. Just keep buying those Chinese Made Products that empowers our enemy with our own money. Soon we will see our doom. Way to go Americans!!

gildo9 Mon Dec 06, 2010 06:52 am PST

Oooh World wide turmoil, What fun , Lets watch

BajaPaul Mon Dec 06, 2010 06:40 am PST

Doesn't sound like Rudd is going to be heading back to China anytime soon! Those Chinese leaders can't handle any criticism. Rudd was a good ally and definitely is a casualty of our wikileaks. He will probably be resigning real soon since he will no longer be an effective foreign minister.

cherry Mon Dec 06, 2010 06:18 am PST

Leave China alone! And no more importing either. Stupid politicians.

Killerbee Mon Dec 06, 2010 06:16 am PST

It looks like the world doesn't like US but secretly use US to do their dirty work or start a cause.

JLA Mon Dec 06, 2010 06:14 am PST

Rudd is obviously ignorant of history. No one has ever won against China. And we in recent history, we didn't win against them in Vietnam. Besides, the Chinese are not expansionist, and they currently have too much to lose with all the prosperity they have going on.

Dianna Mon Dec 06, 2010 05:41 am PST

Look everybody knows that Obama only put Hilary Clinton in the position that she has to get her out of the US and to get her out of his way. The US needs to stop thinking that all countries should be a democracy like the US! That will never happen! Hillary needs to wake up and get back to the US!

Rudy Mon Dec 06, 2010 05:31 am PST

I got a flyer in the mail for a Christmas sale at a hardware store. Not a single item in it, was made in America. Most likely, any item in the 8 pages was made in China. Ok, America is finished. Got it people? The jobs are gone. There is nothing left but welfare for Americans. Borrow money from China, and give out those food stamps Obama. Woo Hoo! America, such a great nation. Can't even make a screwdriver now.

Sanity Mon Dec 06, 2010 04:55 am PST

George W and the Republicans sold the U.S. to China a long time ago. We already lost that war.
The GOP cares nothing for democracy, God, the USA, or you. They are corporate tools, lining their own pockets. They lie and cheat and send young Americans to their death solely for their own profit. They hide behind @#$% patriotism and hypocritical religious posturing (Jesus was all about love and charity-the opposite of republican practice) to advance their greedy destruction of democracy. They have cut education over and over and over until the average U.S. citizen is stupid enough to believe their lies.

RUDD told the U.S.? Who does that commie kangaroo impregnator think he is? Michelle Obama?

chuck s Mon Dec 06, 2010 03:19 am PST

That's smart Australia. You and your 22 million people start up a war with China that outnumbers you by 1.310 billion people. Let's send a communique to China and say they can have Australia. Attack on Saturday at about 11:00 pm when everyone of them is drunk.

ricardo Sun Dec 05, 2010 11:08 pm PST

I love Wilkileaks, now I know how stupid are the diplomats.

I.C. Sun Dec 05, 2010 07:43 pm PST

Oh Great! Now we should start a war with our own banker? Sure! As if we had the money, the military readiness, and the will to attack a huge nuclear armed country when we have been unsuccessfully trying for 10 years to defeat a bunch of goat herders.

Rudd can round up his own military and go for it, if he wants to. Oh! right! he is no longer Prime Minister.

newage Sun Dec 05, 2010 07:24 pm PST

How to deal toughly with your banker ? Rebuild the US economy and quit shipping quality middle class jobs overseas. And then pay off the loan.

NChen Sun Dec 05, 2010 07:12 pm PST

it's time for China to occupy australia and enslave its people.

maple Sun Dec 05, 2010 06:51 pm PST

this is looking down on asians as inferior to western peoples this guy should apologize

kg Sun Dec 05, 2010 06:36 pm PST

This is hilarious, we can't even financial continue the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, how on earth do people expect us to afford a confrontation with China? Oh yeah I forgot, we can ask the Chinese to buy some of US bonds to finance our war against them and maybe while were at war, they could possibly forgive our payments on the loans until after the war. That should work. Boy are we (US) dumb or what?

realist Sun Dec 05, 2010 05:55 pm PST

Tell Rudd that the US is broke, busted up, tired and in no mood or condition for another fight, especially not with China. So if he's a real man and a real leader, he'll use his own force and the force of his own country to achieve his agenda instead of begging for someone else to do his work. Use force with China? Easy to say, not easy to do. I can tell my neighbor he should fight Tyson but he's smart enough to tell me to fight him myself. YOU use force with China and tell us how that went.

Just Sun Dec 05, 2010 05:10 pm PST

It is true politics is dirty. You can not trust a politician on their face-value.

Ken Sun Dec 05, 2010 04:37 pm PST

doesnt this say a lot about australian intelligence,or more to the point how little of it they have.
that idiot wanted america to be prepared to use force on china,he belongs in an asylum,
the mans a complete looney,
china would be preparing their dinner after leaving the whole of the u.s. smoking like a massive barbeque.i suppose we couldnt expect anything better from the prime minister of a huge holiday resort.

Linlin Sun Dec 05, 2010 04:25 pm PST

No wonder this guy can only be a Minister for Foreign Affairs instead of being staying as a prime minister. I wonder how long he can stay as the Minister for Foreign Affairs with such kind of evil intent.

Yahoo Sun Dec 05, 2010 04:25 pm PST

US and Australia are a threat to China.

Z Sun Dec 05, 2010 04:10 pm PST

"How do you deal toughly with your banker?" asked Clinton.

Rudd answers, "Scapegoat them and let the rest of the world look at them as villains, like the people did to the banks in the mortgage crisis."
